True, I'd never buy Norton or any of the others. Shit's fine til it expires, then you get problems and hassle and end up paying for another year to make it go away.

Plus wasn't it found that antivirus companies were making viruses a few years back? No shit sherlock, who'd have thought [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Swish and Citizen are correct here.

Learn how to browse the internet properly and viruses are actually quite hard to contract. Also, if you do get one, there is a program called combo fix. Updated daily, cost nothing and it works wonders. Research it. Use it. Love it.

Just to understand this more clearly, is it true that someone at SoE released a version of the server code to the creative commons sometime in or around 2009?
No. To my knowledge there has never been a leak of any server side code from SOE or Daybreak. Project 1999 was forked from EQEmulator in 2009, which had already been through atleast 5 or 6 years of development at that point.

some big news for p99.
congrats guys! thanks for all the time and effort you put into making this server good enough for Daybreak. wow.

however, I would be very sad if this leads to P99 becoming pay-to-play.

Not sure if combo fix works for 8.1. Hope so soon.

I don't think I would mind pay-to-play, I just wouldn't want any type of pay-to-win things.
