While I tend to disagree with the defiant gear dropping, I don't see why it would be such as stretch to make sufficient mobs spawn and drop stuff useful for the different types of armor - silk, ruined/low/medium/high leathers, ore blocks - drop off basic mobs in the starting zones (e.g. animals for leather of the appropriate size, spiders for silk, humanoid for ores). This would also give use for basic levels of tradeskills.

I played lots of eq. I played WOW when it was cool thing to do in my highschool. The game was okay. cartoon like characters, 3rd person view, and small in terms of mobs took a little getting used to. I loved seeing the dmg above the mobs head.

Everything was going well. My paladin was in his mid 40s iirc and then a hammer dropped. I kept looking at the stats in disbelieve. The ratio was insane! Off a random normal mob I was solo'ing? Not grouped for? Not even raided for? I verified that the hammer was game changing and as good as I thought it was. It was, and I quit that day. Dumbest thing ever
