This brings up a subject that keeps slapping me in my consciousness every time I log in. Why in the hell would you take the extra effort to find a classic server, go through a "user assisted" install of an old client, tweak and fudge until it works... and then log in and try to blow through all the content until you max?
Why? Why more folks aren't enjoying the walk all the way to 50 I just don't understand. I started here in August I believe, my wife a week or two later. We are just about L27 (PAL/DRU). I've got friends that hopped onto the server a month later at L40. Granted I've got a 40% XP penalty, but still... Of course, my wife and I are probably some of the better geared folks for our level. Oh how I loved, and do love trading in EC. I always said the best loot drops in EC, hehe. Hell I smiled when I saw the penalty was in place. Why come here and powergame? I just don't get it. I maxed out in live with OoW, reached 70. When the expansion came out that raised the cap to 75 I was basically through. I popped on a couple more times and dinged 71, but by that time, EQ felt like another game. I was L39 when Kunark came out, and I think L56 when Velious came out.

Good post Lagaidh! My wife and I are lvl 24 cleric and bard, Bigred and Armandoe, look us up! Sounds like we have very similar opinions on what we think the classic experience should be.
I have never understood the power game regardless. Maybe it's because I am successful in my RL that I don't need the ego boost online? I don't have a need to be the best at anything on EQ. I enjoy that people get to know that when they group with my wife and I that we are going to play our characters well and have good conversation in the process. Soon, I will enjoy once again being known as a good and fair guild leader of a very unique guild on P99 when The Harbingers of Thule return with the opening of Kunark. Here are a few things to consider...How many of your best memories of EQ were about raids and some loot you got from them? For me, the raids are a blur with almost no distinct great memories. Now, how many of your memories of EQ were having good groups to play and chat with while casually leveling? How about having good guildmates to log in and just chat with while winding down from a rough day in RL? Or some random guild event that had nothing to do with loot and everything to do with friends and unity? I tell ya, my best memories were having PvP tournaments and battle royals in the arena in Cabilis (I was in an all iksar guild), RP Raiding Oasis and killing anything that wasn't iksar (RZ, PvP server), playing some silly hide and seek type stuff in the City or having newbies try to run a burynai (furbie) from the pit to the guards without dying, for a prize. Its the little things that people remember. Just the other night, the wife and I had a few deaths in Sol A and it was really pissing me off as a vet. Then I look over at her, playing her cleric and see her do everything she can to save everyone but herself in the group. She died and everyone else lived (other than me as the first who went down). She is happy?! Because she isnt TAINTED by the end game. She is a true noobie to EQ and she sees the magic for what it is. Something we should all try to think about and remember. The magic is only lost because you allow it to be. Don't fly passed it and don't forget about it.

There are tons of reasons people play P99. Some people want to relive classic leveling, some want to relive classic EC tunnel, some people want to relive classic raiding. Some people want to raid in classic now, because they never had a chance to when it was live. For everyone that can't understand why someone would want to blow through 1-50, there is someone else who can't understand why anyone would want to do something besides raiding. It's not at all hard to understand.

I have to agree that I don't understand the need to rush to the highest level you can in any MMO. Many of those people then complain that there is nothing for them to do.[You must be logged in to view images. I like to explore. I like going to places that people say that I shouldn't be able to go to and looking around. If there was a place in the old game that wasn't hard coded for a particular level or needed some sort of port to get to, I went there and explored in detail. I also tried out other things, like jumping off of wizard towers to max out Safe Fall, or swimming from North Ro to Velious and back...twice.
Ha! I was right about the spawns in BB being slower than I remembered! What does that say about me that I noticed that? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Torqumada

On live the respawn timer in BB was closer to 7 minutes than the 18 it is here. Between the long timer and the ever-present high level power leveling douches, BB is nearly useless for real gamers.

I enjoy higher level encounters..
I have played so much EQ that the lower - mid level content is super easy mode for me.... therefore i want to get to the higher levels(35+) as fast as possible. I enjoy that more.. and If you guys like the lower level stuff and quests thats understandable.. but don't judge me because i seek more of a challenge than or scalp quests... etc...
