Quick question:

I am definitely a newbie on this server. I try to be friendly and helpful to everyone I meet. 98% of the population has been super cool and the other 2% can be ignored.

But I got hit with the ban hammer because I helped a guy transfer some items and he paid my EC toon a bunch of platinum after I helped him out. Did I screw up because I helped a guy who had paid some guy for his plat?

But that is nor the worst part a buddy of mine got banned because I gave him some of the money I had gotten. As he is also a brand new player and he got hit with the ban hammer as well.

Did I break some rule I cant find?

Is there anything you can do to get a ban removed other than the petition part of the forums?

Well, your story may or may not be true. But you may find getting people to believe it true rather difficult. I try to be nice, friendly, and helpful quite often. In all the years of playing EQ on live and now on P99, I have never once had anyone try and gift me vast sums of money. I am going to speculate that most have had a similar experience as mine. I have never spoken with or had any interaction with Rogean. But if I may make one supposition, he probably didn't ban too many for small money exchanges. If you and your friend split a couple hundred plat gifted as a tip for helping out and received a ban, then petition. If it was substantially more than that, I suggest you take the advice of others and make a new toon with the new found knowledge of how the server works. Accounts with no high level characters attached that suddenly have large sums of money are going to be deemed suspicious. These large scale bannings may be an inconvienence for the innocent, but are essential for the health of the server. As a member of Dark Winter, I see first hand the negative impact on good people when betrayed by RMT'ers.
