The same issues have been happening to my wife and I since the last patch. During that time I have added a ssd to my comp and done a clean install of my OS and everquest and it has no effect. The same problems plague my wife comp as well and sometimes it takes around 15m to log in. For us it is about a 50% chance of loading a character in or into another zone. Failing to zone just hangs and clicking makes it go unresponsive. Then we have to wait for the server to boot our Ld chars. We also get the failure to connect to the server message and reloading the launcher gets past that. The blank character screen comes up once in awhile as well.

I have experienced the same issues for the past month:

Logon never succeeds and never times out /freezes
Server selection is blank/empty
During zoning the client freezes

Last night was worse, so I decided to reboot my router. That changed nothing, so I switched to my backup Internet connection and that worked wonders!
Everything now works 100%, so it might be a router issue.

My ISP's are 2 different companies and the routers are from 2 seperate manufacturers. The Zyxel router, is the one giving me trouble logging on. My Linksys WRT54GL is the router delivering good connection.

I am having better connection to P99 after i switched, then I have ever had.
Zoning is fast and without the client changing position 3-4 times before the new zone loads.
I can change char multiple times, without the client crashes.
No lag issues and the small 2-3 second screen freeze is gone as well.

My setup is a 5yo Dell Vostro 420 with 4GB RAM and Windows 7 x64 (only supports up to Windows Vista). Harddrive is a 500GB 7200RPM with a 1GB AMD Graphics card

From my house, this is not a server side issue.
I tried switching between the internet connections and as soon as I was on the Zyxel, all my problems was occuring again.

The fact that some less craptastic ISPs manage to cope with p99 better than CenturyLink & etc. does not make this a non-p99 issue. Other games & sites do not have the problem. The system formed by p99 client + p99 server has issues not present with other online services. It's a free service, we have no way to encourage a fix except by asking nicely and explaining the observed behavior as clearly as possible, but that doesn't stop us from hoping for a fix.
