Probably because raiding/camping/minmaxing is a metagame that none of us cared about in 1999-2001, and furthermore do not care about in 2014.

So much to do in this game, and yet, people try and min/max it instead of purely enjoy the game for what it is: a social experience with like-minded nerds.
