from what i understand, voidd was very open about the fact he was going to shut down the server after all the work others did for him as gm's.

meanwhile smedy still thought the server would be around and was investing all his time and efforts there when it was doomed anyway, so gm's started playing favorites and summoning shit and no one but smedy still cares
