Archer suffered from the same problem that Janeway had: poor writing. The difference was that Archer got great writing in his show's final season which aside from the final episode, was an amazing season

Watch the voyager reviews. She frequently contradicts herself. Never puts the crew ahead of her interests and even the end was her doing something incredibly stupid and foolhardy to fix what she considers wrong...oh and the genocide. And the whole reset buttons in the series. The misuse of the marquis and the raping of the borg make that series perdy awful.


I WANTED TO LIKE HER. I mean i find her oddly powerful when she is done right. And id fuck her. Thats like 5 out of 10 right there. I wouldn't fuck picard.

I thought she did a good job, the issue is that you have to compare her to Kirk, Picard and Sisko, the greats. Even bumbling Archer ended up being the driving force behind the federation.
On the flip side though she did save the galaxy from the onslaught of species 8472, as well as nutering the Borg (though she did cheat with time travel).

To me she's the last great of the five simply based on having an overall smaller influence on the quadrant/federation. That doesn't mean she was "bad" but that's not going to stop me from trashing the way they wrote her for the bulk of the series.

The only things I actively disliked her for were murdering Tuvix and constantly switching back and forth between being willing to lay it all on the line for her crew and not wanting to save everyone because it would go against her principles (Q for example).
