You should see how much money the owners have. It's a lot.

There were some slaves that ate lobster, slept in the house, wore fancy clothes. They even got paid. Paid better than northern free workers. Paid enough to buy their freedom. Still made them slaves.

Yet the master got a majority of the wealth they created. They still had to perform backbreaking labor. NFL players create all the value, create all the wealth, they are the product. They are the ones that get traumatic head injuries that will drastically shorten their life. The league simply does not exist without them. Yet they get less than half what the ownership gets.

They're slaves. Lobster-eating slaves, but still slaves.

Except they aren't forced to play, got full rides to college, negotiate their own contracts, love playing the game, get paid lots of money and are idolized by millions. Yeah, I see the comparison.

Hippo doesn't understand shit on the most basic levels. Shits sad. Severe inability to think outside the box at the most basic levels.

Slaves weren't forced to work, they could run away, or just disobey their master. Same with NFL players. You don't have to work. You're totally free to become homeless and die from starvation.

College is complete and utter exploitation of free labor. It's not a good example to use in defending your argument. A majority of college players will never make it to the NFL and never make anything near the millions of dollars they generate for public, non-profit, taxpayer-subsidized universities.

Contracts aren't even guaranteed in the NFL, it's the worst of the Big 4 of sports in America. There's also an incredibly small salary cap. Their union should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm sure some slaves enjoyed picking cotton. Still exploited.

Well I guess I will just have to disagree with you then. Having the natural ability and talents to be a NFL player sounds good to me.

With your line of reasoning anything anyone does is some type of slavery so the discussion about the NFL is irrelevant. Unless you are playing EQ 24/7 or sitting on the couch doing nothing while others provide your welfare I guess you are a slave.
