Not terribly long ago, there was a very lengthy discussion and much drama on a motorcycle enthusiast website I frequent about a rider that essentially did just this, and posted it on YouTube.
He used a nifty hard mounted camera to film himself reaching speeds in excess of 180mph on highways and interstates. (yes he's a fucking moron) The video ended with him riding into his driveway, having passed numerous road signs, landmarks, and then the camera catching his house number in the final frames.
Yes, the police viewed it, and since it was publicly visible, credible evidence, they came to his house and snatched him up.

So if you do, don't show anything that can be traced back to ID you.

Will a Focus do 100? I mean, without a downhill? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Oh yea, pretty regularly. I dunno if mine being a sports edition helps at all. I was on the way home from Connecticut at 1 am the other day and I think it was an Impala that was just cruising with me at 105 mph for a good 10 minutes.

This sparked a conversation in IRC when I got home about how I don't think cops even bother doing speed traps at night.. by the time they catch up if you've reduced your speed how do they even know which car it was.

You would be surprised how good law enforcement people are at telling what cars are doing what. My dad could give speeds within 2mph of a given vehicle always. I would ride with him and quiz him. He could pick out what car was going faster (when I had no clue) and its speed.

Also, if two cars are roughly going the same speed, that won't save you either being with another car. I've been pulled over with 3 other cars before and given a ticket =/

I was talkin more like.. If it's night and theres a cop on the side of the road, and you blast past him doing 100+, chances are you'll be out of view for a few seconds before he can get on the road, accelerate, etc.. if you were able to see him when you passed, and you take the extra minute or so to slow down to the speed limit and merge into traffic, how will he know who you were.
