I have so respect for the people who come to the US and legally become citizens. A good friend of mine did it that way. So why do we allow people to come here illegally and offer them amnesty later; like it's totally acceptable that they couldn't be bothered to follow the rules like everyone else? Isn't that a huge slap in the face to the immigrants who actually come here lawfully? Also, why should it be acceptable that they start shipping their kids here all alone? I feel bad for them, but goddamn...

It's not their fault the immigration system is broken. Your good friend was either one of the lucky few that the system worked for, or she knew someone who helped get things moving.

Other than the natives (americans), every single person in this country is either an immigrant or the descendant of an immigrant.
