Pretty sure this has been the mantra of pretty much every person who left any more casual guild and moved up to whichever guilds are on top since the beginning of the server. It's not a new concept.
Class R is how it is due to guild's catering to a more casual player base while utilizing their more hardcore members. The primary difference between an R guild and a C guild is that C structures everything around the most dedicated members and while other guildies are welcome to be as casual as they like, they aren't rewarded for it. R throws rewards to everyone regardless of their effort and then retains members by vilifying the class C guilds so people are scared to move on to greener pastures.
I'm sure people will say that class C is just a bunch of unemployed slobs who play EQ 24/7, and while there are those like that, they are just as common in R and they certainly don't make up the majority of either class. All it comes down to is the way the guild is managed.
