EC tunnel could work if people agreed on a different currency like peridots or platinum bars. Just a thought.

80 slots of 20 rubies = 1600 rubies (~20kpp max), would work for smaller trades (and is what I've paid in when travelling a bit before and not wanting to lose a few hundred pp), but wouldn't really for any high value items.
