Examples:

People firing upon incoming aid workers after Katrina.
Robbing and killing lineman working on power lines after Katrina.
Mobs of people bludgeoning aid workers in Africa bringing food and medical supplies.
Etc.

Care to elaborate? Does this statement come from personal experience? I'm not claiming to have all the answers nor do I have extensive first-hand experience trying to help people in extreme need. I'd be interesting in hearing why you think this and/or your perspective on equality (if you think such a thing exists).

I understand that some people in needy situations are "takers" who really don't care to help themselves. However, I find that to be a poor excuse to abandon for people who really want to contribute to society and their community. I'm not really sure what a realistic solution is yet, but I'm not willing to throw in the towel on humanity quite yet either. Maybe I'm just a dreamer...
it is from personal experience, but i hesitate to let these forums know anything personal of mine. i'm sure you understand? if i see a guy broke down on the road, i've stopped to help in the past, and probably still will. but people who are in seriously disparate crap parts of the world would kill you after you've given them aid. seen it, been there.

im never going to say that all people are bad like this, there is no one blanket you can give everyone on earth except we need to eat and breathe. but you won't catch me in the third world handing out aid(except for when the government told me i had to in the past) on my own volition. people get killed for that stuff.

http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/...-massacre.html

this happens often enough that it deters me from even considering going into the shitholes of the world and offering anyone aid. the bads definitely outweigh the goods, no matter what ratio you want to give me. it happens more than you'd like to know, in more than just afghanistan or in iraq.

it's a bad world, dude. a really bad world. my only real wisdom is to enjoy what you can while youre here, and that means bacon gravy.

edit: i plan on posting more cool recipes, please feel free to add one, i'd love to get off of world hunger and back to world record caloric intakes =)

Ok, thanks for the response. Even though I disagree with your general perspective, I can understand and respect it based on your experiences. Anyways, sorry for continuing the derail. Back to food [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I prefer to just do biscuits and sausage gravy. Only every few weeks though, and while horridly hungover.
try the exact same recipe but instead of bacon or sausage.. use chopped up hard boiled eggs... OMG is's so good.. you can also use toast in instead of the biscuit

this sounds pretty good...

you'd have to use lard or butter for the fat though. a roux is fat/gluten mix, flour specifically. butter and flour make a really nice white sauce, which is basically an unflavored gravy depending on the thickness.

so i'd melt down butter, add flour, add milk/seasonings, then the chopped egg.

and i get the feeling this would rock on an english muffin with a slice of ham.
