Ya your version doesn't work because your version does not follow logic. If God needed a creator and God's creator needs a creator etc ad infinite as you suggest then nothing could ever exist. The only logical explanation then becomes that God has always existed and therefor does not require a creator. Only that which has a beginning requires a creator. Therefor the first thing to ever exist HAS to be eternal and therefor does not have a beginning and therefor does not require a creator.

I'm sure you already know this, but I wanted to let the other posters know as well; that even the ETs believe in the existence of God or "the creator" like some say. Maybe "believe" isn't the right word for this, but acknowledge is!
