Eq ain't the game for this guy
It's not the game for me because I don't like having to grind for hours and hours just to gain one level at the early stages? I'm pretty sure that wasn't a defining feature of the game when it first came out.

The first couple of levels are extremely boring unless you are twinked out. Hang in there, it gets better.

Then the game was either not working as intended, or was poorly designed. It's not supposed to take 4+ hours to gain one level as a newbie. At a higher level, fine, but not for a character that's brand new.

If memory serves, the original intent of the game was to reach level 50 in a year of casual (a few hours a week) playing. That was pre-Kunark.

You can rage on it all you want, but it is what it is, and it was like this in classic. Decrying how wrong it is 15 years after the fact only serves to upset yourself, so either play it and enjoy it, or don't enjoy it and don't play it.

That's not to say you can't ask questions or propose changes; *constructive* criticism is always welcome, but the foundations of the game are exactly what you are experiencing, and there is no need, desire, nor means to change them.

Now I remember why I stopped posting here so long ago. The forum is so full of trolls and assholes, it's easy for them to make them out.

Very well, radditsu has seen me before, I'll give him one guess to my former username.

When the game came out originally, there was no alternative to the way you gain experience and how it scaled, because it was one of few games of it's type.

Alternatively WoW ushered in the era of quest-centric gaming and now the grind/group grind/camping aspect is non existent in modern MMOs.

Just think of it as different rather than worse. Additionally, once you get the right class (for solo) or group together and see the mechanics working in conjunction with other players, you'll start to understand the style better.

4+ hours to get from 4-5 sounds way off if you're killing blue mobs as often as you're able to. What are you killing & what's your class? Make sure to make use of the skills/spells available to you from your class guild. There's nothing wrong with heading to gfay, but it's not going to be very much different than EC or nro.
