Even when they're light blue, they'll regularly yield 1% EXP to players. As others have said, they're rather good cash as well.

This isn't true (a quad of light blues gave less than 1% to my Bard when he was level 48 or 49, I forget which).

This is also not true.

They're really good money and extremely easy to kill. It's also very easy to get the top tower in Oasis because most people can't take 3 spectres at once, so if you're a Bard/Wizard/Druid, then you have yourself an easy, effortless camp for money. My Bard spent roughly 3 whole levels camping specs (not in a row though) and I'd estimate he made about 5-6K in the process. Basically, they're a good alternative for classes who can't solo seafuries efficiently.

Killed the one outside and first 2 inside...got about a plat off of each, 1 rusty and 2 bronze scythes. Left and went to sol A and murdered gnomes and cleaned up. I figured they would at least dropped FS.

go figure
They tend to drop "Scythe"s (which sell for 12p), fire opals, opals, peridots, and all sorts of decent gems. The money really does add up if you do it over a reasonable amount of time. Also, the spectres in oasis drop more pocket change (not sure if this is intended or not), so you get specs dropping 5-6 platinum fairly often, along with their juicy vendor items.

5-6K in three levels .. Post-40 I am assuming... is pretty terrible.

My shaman made over 1k between levels 10 and 16 alone while exp-ing. People don't kill Spectres for cash. You don't see level 50s ever killing specs unless they are grouped with someone below level 50 who needs help with exp.

Most of what you say is pretty reasonable, but you have yet to provide a better money-making option for Bards, or even other quad classes.

I don't follow EC prices honestly but I am assuming you could make out pretty good by killing named creatures in SolA. Even if you are getting low price items like CGS, CGB, Fire Staff etc. Still be stuff that is worth around 400-500pp which is the same as getting 33-41 of the 12pp Scythes each time you get a low price item like that.

Every time I go to SolA to ban IP infraction people.. the place is empty.

PS: People who two-box. Please continue going to SolA to powerlevel your "wife." I fully enjoy the easy bans.

Specs are good because they are decent plat and really easy to kill and level quickly off of.

as a necro, i went from 40(2blues in) to 46 (about half the level finished) in less than 16hrs. my total time was 16hrs 40mins when i logged but about an hour and a half of that was spent waiting for the camp in oasis to open.

Now during that roughly 15hrs or so of doing them i got 2 hell levels done and some easier ones. I only made 3.5k off the gems/jewelry that i picked up. I let newbies come and clean the scythes b/c i didn't have DMF and didn't want to swim overweight to sell and have someone snatch the specs.

So if you want to level quickly and make some decent plat i'd say wait an hour and lock them down. Especially if you can levi over the water and have sow/jboots.

P.s. I did specs from 46-49 too. They were still the best exp to solo imo as when you have them, people usually don't mess with you. Well the didn't mess with me lol.

Not fine steel. Its literally just "scythe" and vendors for 12p. Yes, they are all on the same loot table. You're luck might have just been bad. Try it for more then 2-3 kills. Give it an hour, and youll see the average cash is pretty decent.
