Alert epic heartbrand essay incoming.
First, azrael left red dawn. Whether everyone was tagged red dawn or not, they left to do their own thing, against the wishes of the majority of its members. Lite never even spoke to me before doing so, basically flushing down the toilet three months of cooperation. When we took azrael on, we knew it would cost us members due to their caustic and self serving nature, but did it for the "greater goal" of competing. Azrael effectively used us and left us a depleted guild. To think we would be rushing to work with them now is laughable. Velious requires gear progression in order to succeed. How could we ever work with azrael now knowing that they self admittedly would use us for loot to peace out and pvp? It isn't happening. My idea of fun in velious isn't sniping a few vindi's at 4am, and pvping people with 2000 more raw hp and ridiculous weapons. Also, the pve in velious is actually fun, unlike Kunark and classic. Blueing it up to slay some giants and dragons with the duke and then pvping each other out side of that is pretty fun to me. I get two different guilds I can fight, while still working and cooperating with the competent one who actually offers something beyond the incoherent rambling of a coked up illegal alien who is also a known pixel black hole. I don't think anyone would deny that if there was boxing or a classic server pop, that the server dynamic would be entirely different. But, since it's not, I can either pvp azrael over vindi and plane of growth as nihilum slowly siphons members from both guilds, or I can forge a partnership built upon maple syrup and New York style bagels. Our current "arrangement" with nihilum, if you want to even call it that as there's nothing official, is about as red as it gets, far more than our prior ones with azrael. We still pvp each other, compete, but work together for the greater good when needed, and do all of this in a friendly and non toxic manner. Working with azrael means you better have a quick trigger finger on the right click button when the dragons hit the floor bros or that dragon may mysteriously be dropping only one item, u feel? I know this has upset some of the old school players on the box who I like and respect. Some of them have left and some will continue to leave. But ultimately I play this game to log on and have fun with as little drama and confusion as possible. Azrael is the antithesis to that. It's chaos, manic, unpredictable. It's the same box personalities that keep bringing everything down time and time again. I'm done trying to work deals and forge bonds with druggies and Mexicans. It's a video game bros, and it's time to slay the dragon.
