Do you beleive humans were created 6000 years ago or think that the fossil record must probably be right? Do you beleive that other animals have souls too? Not trying to troll, just trying to make you articulate what youre getting at.

I think the concept of soul in humans is just admiration over how amazingly complex life has come to develop on earth over the million/billion of years. To me, my personality, who i am, my memories, my emotions, is all part of my electrical brainstorm. When my brain dies, thats dead too.
I definitely don't think the earth was created only 6,000 years ago. Can't a person believe in science while also having faith that there is a supreme being and that we humans have souls? I don't necessarily have to understand it all, or need any proof, it's just something I feel is true in my heart.

Not to sound condescending or anything, but faith and science are diametrically opposed. One is based on objective reasoning, the other is subjective. I mean what does "true in someone's heart" really mean?

edit: There are altogether no supernatural phenomena, only supernatural interpretations of phenomena *

faith and science are based on fragile notions of trust. science uses material means to support the trust while faith does not. quantum physicists are the new priests. i'm coming from a stance based upon behaviors and an over arc of humans still doing the same thing of waiting for an apocalypse (the word means a revelation or unveiling, originally, and not the end of the world), and i do lean on the side of science being a better method; but i've seen some shit man http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...thread&page=10

Christianity and science might be opposed to each other, idk. I'm not a christian. My beliefs are nothing like any of the mainstream religions. I wouldn't even call it a religion. Like I said before I don't need to have all the answers to be a believer in god, spirituality, and some kind of afterlife.

If there's nothing after I die, so be it. It won't matter at that point, right? So in the meantime I'd rather live my life believing in something . Maybe when I die I'll be pleasantly surprised. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Fair enough; I think that's a perfectly acceptable way of viewing the world, especially when not confined to a religion that tries to make everyone follow it.

As for me, even though I don't believe in vampires, ghosts etc, I would still like to believe in them just because it would make the world much more interesting.

Be careful what you wish for

Progress in medecine will probably make vampires out of a tiny elite who can afford such medecine in the near future
