I really don't understand how poopsocking became synonymous with "buffing an alt army and camping out at a raid target". It's got nothing to do with the original definition.
What it used to mean, and actually means in most other MMO's terminology, is to be at the computer for an excessive period of time playing, to the point where you can't use the bathroom for fear of leaving the camp... thus forcing the player to shit in a sock / piss in a bottle. Basically it means excessive dedication to the game at the cost of all else (girlfriends, job, bodily functions, hygiene, etc).
So yeah, basically P1999's definition of poopsocking is incorrect and needs a separate definition.
"Batphoning" is simply a mass-message to members of a raid group who may or may not be online to assist and engage a contested raid target as soon as possible, usually done by text message. In the old days a viral buddy system was used (A calls B,C,D. B calls F,G,H, C calls I,J,K, D calls L,M,O, and so forth until, very rapidly, a raid is online. Modern usage is A,B,C or D blasts a text to A-Z on confirmation of a popped target).
