Top guilds are only geared with the best items Kunark can offer...how can they be "over geared" when the next expansion goes live?

I dont think you get my point. Im not trying to complain although I do realize my post may come across that way. I was not asking for exact timeline of Velious progression either. What I was trying to say was that giving the community a simple information about the progression of Velious development would be very helpfull and win/win for everyone.Maybe just put up a % graph or something...anything. But maybe you just enjoy seeing new Velious thread every day and the endless speculation that comes with it....whatever.

When Velious came out less than a year after Kunark during classic. When everything was unknown and epics had to be figured out. Mob strategies had to be created and people didn't have a wealth of max level characters. Very few, if any, guilds were even at the point of killing anything in VP when Velious landed and I bet noone had best-in-slot for kunark level items when Velious came out.

Basically, there is no build up time it'll simply be a race to the mob. All you really need are 10 clerics capable of right-clicking every 20 seconds (CH landing every 2 seconds), one tank, and a competent group to handle adds to take out any raid target. After you have that it really just depends on how many people you can safely throw at the mob without losing agro.

Pretty much this. The only thing most people will have to look forward too is kunark content once velious drops. The bottlenecks of epics ect will be lifted

I disagree, there's a lot for the semi-hardcore to look forward to in Velious. Not much of a bottleneck on Thurg/PoG armor, or even SS/Kael armor since those areas can all handle multiple groups/raids. Sure Tormax, Dain, etc. will have a bottleneck, but a lot of content will be available to everyone.

I think too many people here think Everquest = high end raiding. Maybe it does for them, but I don't think "most people" feel that way. In fact, I'm certain: if you do some "/who all"s anytime, I can guarantee you the majority of the server isn't in VP. In fact, the majority isn't even in zones with raid content.

You have to remember that Everquest is full of non-high-end raid content, and Velious is no exception. Two examples:
  • Coldain Prayer Shawl - This quest will keep even the most hard-core player busy for awhile (one simply cannot farm all the tradeskill items that fast)
  • Plane of Mischief - Again, hours and hours of non-raid content

I spent a ton of time playing during Velious, and never joined a high-end raiding guild, thus I'm quite certain that a great deal of non-raid content exists in it. So please, enough of these "OMG Sleeper's is going to be owned by TMO, therefore the expansion is worthless" type comments.
