Be real people, we are all still slaves. Black, white, brown, yellow...it doesn't matter anymore. Realize this though, true freedom hasn't existed for a long long time...

This ignorant post is the perfect example of why movies about slavery NEED to be made.

The slavery just changed names. "Sharecropping" and "Company Towns."

I think the word is peonage which is just slavery under a different name. Let's also not forget that after the civil war vagrancy laws were passed all over the south making it illegal to be caught without being able to prove you had a job. And of course no one was hiring former slaves so they'd be arrested and sentenced to hard labor. How do you think the south re-built and modernised?
