nice, i was wondering when the next anti-bard-aoe-kiting thread would come along. the last was over 2 days ago, quite the dry spell.

i agree that killing 200 mobs at once with minimal risk is an exercise in trivializing game content. but so are countless other things that occur every day on this server. are you going to outlaw monk powerleveling that allows someone to kill a red-conned mob every minute or less? basic druid/shaman/enc powerleveling? bard aoe mez & enchanter aoe stun powerleveling? do you want to prevent uber guild types from outfitting their twinks with VP weapons and over 1 million plats’ worth of droppables, allowing them to obliterate their way to 50? how about the chardok/skyfire/fear/hate AOE groups?

where do you draw the line? exactly how many mobs can you kill per hour to be playing “fairly?”

by the way, are you aware that full BW kites take – barring any deaths, which are common – about an hour from start to completion and yield 1 blue of exp at level 59 for a hybrid class? that is hardly the most efficient way of doing things. there are better ways to blast someone through level 59 that are more intrusive to other players (e.g. dungeons).

Does anyone have any proof that this actually was a classic mechanic though.

I remember low health being a problem to the extent that if someone dropped low health while grouped the mob was going to V-line straight to them. No amount of taunting or hate increase would pull the mob off until the low health person was healed or killed. Time frame on when it was like this, I'm not so sure, 2000-2005?

I don't see how it could have been Classic on dial up. Lucky to pull 15 mobs back then. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You ppl act like low hp aggro is only there for bards to profit from and that it's not relevant in any other aspect of EQ.

Wrong.

Low hp aggro makes raiding more challenging, grouping more challenging etc. Low hp aggro on a raid mob? You're dead. game over.

It's there for a reason and just because bards take advantage of it in a positive way doesn't mean remove it and dumb down the game where its intended to work in a negative way.

When the huge amount of threat that low hp causes was changed down the road, it was only changed to make things "easier" for other content ie who cares if so and so has shitty resists and gets low health, they won't get aggro and bad play is excused.

"Fair" is anything that benefits me. "Unfair" or "should be illegal" is anything that benefits someone else without benefitting me.
