It appears to be somewhat of a mystery where this image originated from, but I enjoy it [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Also maybe it represents how I feel playing P99!

I just joined P99 a few weeks ago after a long hiatus from live. Used to play a ranger as my main up until LoD. I had some other characters but always ended up playing my ranger for some reason.

When I joined P99, the first class I rolled as a ranger. I played him for about a level and decided I wanted to try something else. I rerolled a bard and played him up to level 8 before dying twice trying to run from Qeynos to FP. Finally got him to GF but haven't touched him since. I started playing my ranger again and got him up to 4 now. There's just something awesome about being a ranger. I can't wait for a couple of more levels so I can get in groups on CB, which I never really xp in during live.

Right on Samoht! We'll probably be bumping into each other while leveling. My toon is Eluciv (wood elf ranger). I played around with a cleric and pally over the weekend and I think I would enjoy both, but I just figured, screw it; I'm going to roll my ranger instead. In the spirit of P99, it's probably more fun to roll the class you really want and explore the game that way.

Over the weekend a very kind DE Wiz requested that I purchase some spells for him and I did. He provided me with 100 plat. I was able to buy a leather set, bow and 6/32 axe. I decided to work my fletching as well. Pulling with a bow is a nice opener, hitting for 10 often per shot at level 4. I decided to save the rest (have about 110 plat now) and will be looking to buy a decent ranger weapon asap. I'm a yellow bub away from kick and can't wait to 9, when we get some spells and start the feeling of class definition!

I've seen you around! And maybe a corpse or two! haha

I got in a great group on Saturday and chain pulled for about an hour on orc hill. Got me to level 6 now. I was able to get a full set of patchwork from the vendor so no more cloth! Also bought a banded gorget and wristband.

BTW, don't forget to forage. I was able to sell a couple of Morning Dew for 40pp each, and I foraged 4 more after. Hopefully, I can get some more banded and a decent 1HS and a shield. Also need to get a a cheap bow.

When I used to play live, towards the end of my run, all I did was tradeskills. I am wait until I have better equipment and more plat before I start those money sinks. hehe...Well, maybe I'll start fletching this week.

I'd try and sell morning dews while the getting's good, because the cultural recipes that use them are cheaper than they should be on this server (they should use some expensive gems that they don't currently), and once that's fixed (which Nilbog has been talking about doing), demand for morning dew will probably plummet since fewer people will want to have the gear crafted.

LOL, no doubt a few corpses - It took me a bit to get back into the swing of things [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Grats on lvl 6 man, and the banded armor!

I had to go through every vendor in Kelethin to finally find a bow. I saw a few merchants with bows in Kaladim though. I'd recommend doing fletching with the cheap arrows at least. Pulling from range is incredibly conveinent and tends to hit harder more often than not. It's really affordable to fletch the 5cp materials.

I have sense heading, foraging and tracking all bound to my A & D (left and right strafe) keys. So, I'm constantly foraging. Though, I've yet to pull a Morning Dew. Hopefully soon!

It was kind of funny, someone stopped me and asked, "what's a ranger doing with a shield"? Had to explain that decent 2h weapons are hard to come by and we can't DW until 17, so why not add some AC!

If you can wait to start your ranger, level him up to about 22 and then wait until the Velious patch when the XP penalty is lifted and you get Panic Animal at 22, in case you need to solo. Unless you're betting that Velious won't be out anytime soon.
This makes a ton of sense to me! I loved playing a Ranger on live, but I see how
hard it is for rangers to get groups currently on this server -- mostly because of the
hybrid penalty. Given this, I play an Enchanter/Necro now hoping I can start farming
gear for a Ranger later on to make it easier to level.
