LOL community not much better than HoN, but they do have a system that removes toxic players.
Dumbed down? Hardly. HoN has retardedly OP champs and requires you to kill your own minions as a "strategic" advantage. LoL fixes both of those, so I'd say it's more balanced or focused, but definitely not dumbed down.

Do they have something in place that replaces denying your opponent gold/xp as a strategy?

it's bad game design, plain and simple. i'm willing to bet that it wasn't even intended in original DotA, but was so common that they left it in. in LoL, you actually have to beat opponents, not just bore them to death.

...so there's no resource management in the game? It's just about the APM twitch clicking?

I don't know what have no micro means. Having to rely on twitch clicking and spam hotkeying is not "strategy" it's twitch. If I want to play a twitch game I'll play Osu! or a FPS. HoN had strategy and the more everyone posts about LoL the more it appears it's twitch over strategy. I've lost count the number of games that I've MVP'd in in HoN where I was nowhere near the top APM because that game goes far beyond twitch clicking. You're welcome to try to convince me otherwise but so far you've achieved the opposite. Quote:
