Default Character won't load into NFP

I zoned into North Freeport on my necromancer to go to the bank, and I crashed while zoning. Whatever, happens occasionally, no big deal. Then finally I went to log back in, and it showed i needed to update spell files, then the next time it showed all empty char slots. Finally I got into char select with my real chars, go to log in to Necro again, and it just keeps trying to load, until it goes back to login screen. Restarted computer and tried it again, same thing. I've been playing off and on for over a year on this computer, without any problems until the last few days when I've randomly not seen any servers, been told I couldn't connect to server, or told I need to update my spell files. Does anybody have a clue what could cause this? Its really starting to ruin my time playing.

1) Delete all NFP files from your P99 EQ directory.
freportn.s3d
freportn.xmi
freportn_chr.s3d
freportn_obj.s3d
freportn_sndbnk.eff
freportn_sounds.eff

2) Copy/paste the NFP files from your EQ: Titanium back-up back into your P99 folder (same files listed above). Pasting before deleting and overwriting should work the same.
3) Attempt to log in on the character again.
4) If 1-3 fails, try reinstalling P99 from scratch (follow guide in my signature).
5) Attempt to log/zone into NFP on another character other than your necro.

Finally got it to work. Still crashing pretty much every time I zone, and still having all the other issues, but I tried one more time to get into NFP and it worked, then crashed zoning into WFP, and again into EC...

Crashing on zoning is usually indicative of a network issue preventing your computer from talking to the server correctly (EQ is pretty sensitive about this). Ensure firewalls and things aren't hindering client-server connection, and do what you can to improve your connection to the server (hard-line instead of wifi, etc.).

Solution for this is in my FAQ linked in my sig.

If you find yourself crashing while zoning or logging in constantly, many people have found that this fixes the problem. Also, it seems to make zoning go faster.

Simply go to your options screen and do the following:

EQ Options > Display > Dropdown menu on the top right corner "Loading Screen" change it from "Loading Art" to NONE

Credit goes to DOPE for finding this fix, and it seems to have worked for 90% of the people with this issue. Thanks dope!

What os are you using and what are your computers specs?

have you tried running something like windows 98 in a virtual environment and installing eq to that?
