Make sure your pet isn't stealing 50% of your EXP. Are you doing at least 50% of the damage with your DoTs?

I'll have to check the combat log to make sure, but that could be it. I kinda wish I could see the exact amount of xp I'm getting.

Yeah, it's too bad you can't. You can generally see the difference between 50% EXP and 100% EXP by carefully examining how much your experience bar moves up after every kill, though. Also, keep in mind that the combat log will not necessarily record all of your pet's damage if you're not right up near where the action is.
