I should practice my brevity, lol.

Grief is bad. Variety is good. Red99 has lots of grief, very little variety. Serenity Now!
i would join your guild if i was a player. seems like the most fun to me. back on VZ first time i got PKd in EQ i was playing my Erudite Mage, and had just hit lvl 8 and gotten invis. i decided to travel. i put EVERYTHING except a noob starter robe in the bank, i left Qeynos, passed through QH and arrived in West Karana. this was the farthest i had traveled up to this point. i knew how zone walls worked early on, and decided to travel by hugging zone walls. Surely this would make my trip much longer, but it would also improve my chances of survival. a fellow adventurer had warned me to take the giant wooden bridge, that could be found by following the shore line. all went well until high pass. being so far from home i didnt wanna risk dying. but for the lil bit of gold i had collected on the way, a player was willing to show me the way to kithicor. more (left) zone wall hugging until FreePort where i got a new robe before discovering the boat to Faydwer. While on the boat i saw a GIANT lizard that conned red, i saw mermaids, i saw a giant giant named Gornit as well as multiple Cyclops, and every mans dream.. an island full of wood elf women. two cigarettes later i was in Butcher and again hugging the zone wall. Kaladim was epic to discover as i came over the hills. the chess board blew my mind, and was around my level, but i continued on to Gfay. eventually i found Felwithe and decided as per my map, than i ran across the world. at the time i didnt know where akanon was, and didnt find Kelethin. but i was the first erudite that many of those elves had seen. i was never as scared and excited over traveling as i was that night, and that night was what hooked me on EQ.

i joined a lightie guild as a noob that was called <Judges of Norrath> we use to raid Nektulos and Ecommons to slay all dark races and loot their items. would do "/shout %T has been Judged" every time a guildie slew some random darkie. one night im minding my business when a dwarf comes and murders me and loots my greater lightstone. needless to say, nerdrage was incomming. my killer logged shortly after, so i proceeded to murder all dwarfs in butcher. after a few hours of camping the lowbies, a midlevel all shorty guild showed up in force to remove me (was First Dwarven Brigade i believe, they were one of the guilds that merged into elders of underfoot later on).

and time continued on. i left JoN to join Sect of Silence. a guild that was not allowed to show their guild tags. we were a rumor for a long time. after SoS became trendy, i joined Northern Crusaders but they quickly merged into Defiant. being in Defiant was epic until Cuchulainn quit and gave the guild to Duhara. i was removed for some choice colorful comments towards an officer, but was quickly recruited by Gruffer to join his guild <Fated>. we were the "bad guys" of the light team. we were the ONLY lightie guild that had the stones to fight Defiant. and we were one of 2 or 3 guilds that joined forces with the Dark race guilds in an (eventually successful) effort to remove <The Twelve Prophets> from Sebilis. it took many weeks of constant fighting, and was the absolute best part of the kunark expansion for me. fighting 12p at sebilis.. anyone that was there will never forget.

After Velious, <Fated> decided they would go 4-team, and merge with Gruffers RL Brothers guild <Dark Defiant Warriors>. at that time me and a RL buddy were talking about doing the same thing, so if Fated was going 4team, i might as well bail and start a 4team guild with two RL friends (Azzuyen/Beholdr & Jericha/Mariska). so we did, and we called it <Macabre>. we HATED luclin. we decided to recruit new players and rerun them through the content (classic through velious). we were hated by the server, we were kill on sight to the server. we could ONLY hunt on Odus (but nobody else was allowed on Odus either), unless we moved in force to a raid. our closest Ally was <Vexare> and they were great with helping us get those epics we needed.

Eventually i took over Beholdr and Jericha quit. <Macabre> slowly died, and most of the members joined with exiles from <Vexare> and <Silent Souls> to form <Torrent>.

Sadly <Torrent> is where my story ends.

some of you know Keegan, he was Mindbom of the 12 prophets.
Some of you know Daxum, he was our guilds main chanter in <Macabre>

The teams aspect was fun because it allowed me to have interesting pals in strange places. for example, there was another Erudite Mage in the 12 prophets named Tricky. we could not attack each other and ended up becoming pals, friendly banter about who's guild was better, as well as a bit of extra help on mage infos.

sweet sweet pixelated memories.

all pras Vallon Zek.
