Can't remember if ret paladins were great at this era, or just "Better than what they were". I know they got pretty good later on (either end of TBC or in WotLK).

Ret paladins are garbo the entire expansion, they are only brought in on a few T6 fights to keep seals refreshed with crusader strike. Even at that point they're never considered necessary.
Ret isn't a thing until wraith. Same with boomkins.
