Spells costing more mana than actually listed?

Never really paid any attention to this before but I noticed that my spells seem to be casting more than is listed under the tooltip.

Example: I was in Oasis casting light heal while nearly oom. I had 50 mana, light healing costs 25 mana. After casting Light Heal I was only left with 17 mana.

Does anyone have a similar problem?
