My younger brother and I used to use a crossover network cable and Network Connection Sharing to play on a 28.8 dial up connection. It worked amazingly well for the time. I can't imagine it being even remotely functional nowadays.

LOL...my roomate and I did the same thing connecting at 48.8 for a while before he got a 2nd line for himself.

Now I've gotta find my old AMD Athlon 700Mhz (the computer I upgraded to after playing Classic for a while) my SB Live!5.0 and the Voodoo 2...512 megs of ram. Uber machine in it's day. And yes, I used a trackball too for a short time.
