Not sure why that's a surprise. Getting into TR/IB wasn't nearly as easy as joining the zerg TMO set up was. There was an actual 30day application period where you were expected to not such, have appropriate gear, not be level 20, and know how to play EverQuest, after which every member of the guild voted on whether or not you got in and if a large issue or a certain threshhold of people voted no on you you did not make it in.

On top of that, many people were turned down without being given an app. Fountree for example was shown the door twice for being terrible and nobody having a single good thing to say about him. This was a pretty common occurence, and ultimately probably one of the things that cost TR the race vs. TMO.

Strict recruitment policies and burnout after killing the same 6 mobs for 6 months left TR with not enough warm bodies to log in at a moments notice.

The TMO zerg rolls on.
