Error 1018: Lame

Today, after being away for about a week or so, I try to log in only to be given an error 1018, that's the one telling you you have an active character on existing server, try again in a few minutes. Well, after trying again for about 30 minutes, I petition on boards. After about an hour, I try logging in and it works! /cheers to the staff, or so I thought.

I played a few hours, logged off, and come back about 4 hours later only to be given the same error message. I jump over to the boards thinking I'd see what the issue was only to see a single reply in my petition stating "there's nothing we can do for this issue, sorry." Needless to say, I was a bit upset but wtf can I do. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or know what the cause is? Thanks!
