How is "video game emulator" relevant. Its just a venue. How people act in a game is just an aspect of who they are. Video gaming is not a separate entity from your persona. People have good and vile sides. Society demands we lock up our vile side usually. The internet allows you to be vile without repercussions. Just because you keep it locked up at home, doesn't mean it isn't you.
Obviously you were lost on what emotionally compromised means, basically you are allowing your feelings to influence your thought process. The form of mental compromise I was impyling is that you are allowing you're suspicions to influence your thought. Not evidence just bad logic.
I am not saying you're are a psychopath or in some way mentally degenerative. However, you aren't living up to the potential of your brain by choosing to remain compromised instead of getting valid information for your decision processes.
Not sure what my "real life" has to do with obsession. Unless you are talking about human psychology then yes, I find it very interesting and my brother is actually a research psychologist.

Okay doc.
I'm sorry if I don't seriously answer your post, I just believe such discussion doesn't belong here, even though your argumentation is well built.
On my side I'm much more interested on social aspects of everquest. Some people play because they enjoying sharing with each other. Some play to forget about society. Some people compensate an inactive social life by an utterly active virtual life, etc.
There is a lot of grieving on p99, I do believe some players out solely trigger their satisfaction by grieving other players.
Anyways it's an interesting topic, starting EQ when I was 12 is what gave me the taste for commerce, 13 years later I'd graduate from my MBA from a top business school. Ehhh, gotta be thankful for that atleast.
