The free couple weeks of VP didn't really help us much. The dragon kills were a joke with VP as an indoor zone; glad that got changed.
Once the train battles ensued, the countermeasures needed against the IB griefing crew really is what made us good at this stuff. The VD memblur thing was just icing on the cake after that because we had to try all sorts of strats to time kills based on the location of opposing trainers/memblurrers + constantly relocate the entire raid.
Some may view all the griefing we received as a waste of time, but it's what has made us good at dealing with the situations in there.
