Magician Research Help

Ok so ive been trying to research on my now 37 Mage for Weeks. Weeks. Now all that I have read ''Elemental Grimoire'' Is what Mage's use to Research. I have practiced Reserach to level 90 currently. Weeell, I cannot get a simple Recipe to combine. Not one, Farmed materials up to about Lvl34 spells and still cannot combine the first spell of the ''chain'' of Mage pet spells.

Im finally posting on here to see if maybe Ive been reading the information wrong all along? Or maybe my Mage's research is all bugged out?

Attempting to combine I get the error message that ''These items will not combine in container''. Moved items around, tried all kinds of lay out in the Grimoires Combine box. Currently using Project1999 Game Companion for component list etc and I just cannot get a spell to combine So Pleeease mighty Forum help meee [You must be logged in to view images.
