To some extent, you're right.
Nonetheless, it's a shift in my thought process.
I never read in plain language what was wrong with EQ emulation before I read the EULA. Years and years I'd just skip past the EULA. But there it's... in plain language. That's when I woke up.
Remorse? A bit. But I liked classic EQ and SOE had moved on. I played SOE's game for a long while, up until 2010. I ranted on their forums, but really it was an exercise in futility.
Honestly, without project 1999, I doubt I'd ever re-taste 1999-02. I may have touched on it in other games, but it'd be like comparing a single noodle to a bowl of spaghetti. And the chances of SOE digging up the remains of classic EQ and resurrecting them are zero. They're convinced and head strong. So using EQ emulation was wrong according to the EULA, but I also know that the value of classic EQ to SOE is like the value of dirt.
Classic EQ gameplay had value. That's the biggest thing I'll remember. It's not dirt.

You've made it pretty clear that your goal here has nothing to do with an outdated and arguably unenforceable EULA. You've come up with a bizarre rationalization for why your dwindling interest somehow gives you moral superiority.
I think you smoke too much pot. See you when Velious comes out.
