Hey

First of all, thanks alot for trying to put in pvp at all, some of us played on PVP servers on live, so that was our classic experience. This is great.

Things ive read in this thread i agree on:

"Suicide; people suiciding for 100% mana/health, maybe on death there may be a 30s timer before respawn? Yes I used this to my full advantage."

You also have to gauge stuff about death you shouldnt, like if i kill this guy, will he spawn back at zone full health and stop my team from stealing flag? Granted he will spawn at some point but death should be more of a penalty than right now.

"level difference and gear"

This is one thing that was harsh and possibly not a good thing at all, is that someone alot higher than you is basically unkillable in EQ. People bitch about WoW but thats one thing they got right, killing a 52 hunter who got cocky and took a few people at once with my 27 priest was something that hooked me to WoW pvp on the spot. Not sure what you can do to fix that, or at least minimize it, if there is a will/time for it.

"Dungeon like zones"

Last friday someone suggested this in-game to play on smaller maps when pop is lower. Would also be nice to not be playing the same map all the time. Im not sure how hard that chore is though, and how much time you devs have to devote to it vs. dealing with all the other stuff.

All that work load brings me to my next point:

-------------------------

Heres my suggestion for bringing EQ classic pvp to those who want it, while leaving others who dont to not do it:

Make reds be able to group with blues (im assuming they cant, just like on live, which is the main reason why no one went red).

WoW battlegrounds killed wow pvp for me. Because it restricts the pvp to 3 zones. There is like 20 zones, with a gigantor amount of ambush spots, hiding spots and buildings etc etc, and you are funneling players into only 3 zones [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] (Im not bitching about the CTF just to be clear, just making a point about how fun server-wide pvp is, i totally understand pvp on p99 is in beta form and im glad it is available, at all)

Its the same in EQ. pvping in Gfay on platforms was just epic, same went for crushbone, runnyeye, WC, all the zones were available to pvp in. Bonus points? You dont have to code anything beside reds being able to group with blues. The only thing that blues would have to decide is do we want the trouble of having a red in group? Granted no would be the answer alot of times but it would help kick off server-wide pvp i think, with what seems to be a smallish load of work for you devs and at the same time pve players can stick to pve. Win-win.

Another way of doing this would be to let guilds war dec each other. I can totally see entire alt guilds devoted to pvping. Leveling a character while you have to watch your back all the time is something you dont get from put-put-ing it on PVE, its a constant rush of adrenaline to be walking around, watching the /who channel to see if your arch-enemy doesnt pop in zone.

Im not sure what the decision would be lvl wise if you would try to get this to work, but on the vallon emu its 8 lvls, and it seems a reasonable decision to me, on Rallos it was 4 and sometimes it felt a bit restricted.
