Did you play a female, but you are really a dude?

I've always wondered if there was a subconscious human instinct to recreate a roughly 50:50 sex ratio, even in virtual worlds. The extremely high numbers of males in the player base would lead to a large number of men playing females to balance the population out. It's pretty safe to say this happens for some reason or another.

Just think of how game worlds would look if everyone played their own sex. Kinda weird I'd imagine.
