They have a half joking stigma attached to them here. More so on the forums than in the game. I don't think Rangers really came out of their shell so to speak until Luclin, AAs really turned the class around. Not to say there aren't several skilled Rangers here who can make good use of their utility.
In any case you should play a class you enjoy (after reviewing the hybrid xp penalty modifiers). Plus less loot competition!
