You don't understand. Global Chat always turns into petty political/religious arguments and ends up being absolutely worthless - that was the case with mandatory beta. If it was more customizable (i.e. different channels you could opt in/out of), sure.

That's.....exactly what Chat Channels are. Global OOC? No, but that's not on Live anyway. That was a work-around on EQEmu for global chat until chat channels were working. They are now, and have been for some time. Chat Channels you can join and leave at will and create your own. They can be password locked and heard across the server. Can join multiple ones at once. You can create and designate channels you made for friends, guilds, certain classes on raids, cyber sex parties, discussion of how much you hate everything that isn't Classic even though you quit one day before Luclin was released, and so on. You know, typical EQ stuff. They also could allow chatting across servers though that, as far as I know, doesn't work on EQEmu....yet.
Because how bad ass would it be if Blue and Red could talk, in-game, at the same time? I'm sure the conversations would be completely mature and not retarded at all.
