Depends on what you're raging, obviously. Most of the best early Rages (Anguiform, Rider, etc) have both physical and magic based attacks, so you may want to go for a hybrid setup (later end gear is nice for this, like the Sensei Armor and Hero Ring). Usually the magic-based attack is best so you may put a preference on magic power and earrings, especially if you're hitting a weakness.

If you're using something like Over-Mind then you can just pump up his defense as you're just relying on petrification.

I haven't found any armor he can use that defends worth a damn so it's been all-out MPower for now. Using Rhinotaur rage a lot in the Magitek facility for dat GigaVolt, it's been handy. I didn't go back and get his Serpent Trench monster rages, would be nice to have Anguiform.
