i know nazi germany didn't conscript kids and the elderly till the very end iirc, there's numerous reasons they send young men off to begin with instead of 30+ yr olds and unlike "the kids" we have a proven track record of being managable and well behaved and we actually know shit so they might need us

You may not understand. I'm not talking about 12-14 year olds like the "kids", and I'm not talking about 75+ year old "elderly".

Ukraine conscripted 27-60 year olds first. And increased it to 25-65 year olds recently.

It's ahcthually the opposite of "Eastern European" tradition:

historically, Eastern European armies tended to conscript younger men compared to Western Europe, especially during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

In empires like Russia, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire, mandatory service usually began in the late teens to early 20s.
