Are you kidding, at nearing 40? It absolutely only helps and never works against you at this age. It works for you big
But any skill works for you to some degree at this age. By 40 you’re expected to be good at some things. And even if you are good at like whittling little wooden harmonicas but not playing them, that will still work for you a tiny bit. Being good at video games is like the one skill that won’t work for you with most women your age I think
