Always amazes me that EQ made such an impression on so many of you who were children or teenagers when the game launched. EQ's slow paced and rather 'boring' to the attention spans typical of that age bracket, then or now. I had Atari as a child and those types of games are much more typical of what I think of as "kid's games." They're short, no depth, quick to get into and out of, and no great appeal to adults.

I like progression and it was nearly endless. It is slow paced but can be very intense at times. The social aspect was great too. Huge world to explore, lots of challenges.
TL;DR same as today but it was new back then.
