Is it actually impossible to start with a difficult class as a new player?

No, any class is doable as a new player, it all boils down to how much downtime your willing to put up with. Any class can solo to 60, again it all depends on how much downtime you can tolerate.

While technically true, the skill of the player would define the quality of the journey.

Now im not a "bad" player, but I would not consider solo (newbie player) rogue if the other option is necro.

Ive read some great stories of how solo artists overcome some targets (sans consumables) that I prolly wouldnt think of.

Having said that, if you (OP) feel up to the challenge and are willing to try out of the box stuff it may work out great.

Given the fact you have (hard) time limits. I'd lvl a cash
cow necro/sham/druid/bard with time allowing, start the rog with some toys later.
Night blindness sucks but if ya prepared to endure it, hit that thang.
