if you want some real nightmare fuel look up the time during the Cold War the Russians interpreted MAD as a sign of weakness and figured if we considered nuclear war unwinnable they should do a measured preemptive strike with the logic being we wouldn't respond in kind over fears of escalation.
we should preemptively strike Ukraine ourselves if Putin is going to sabre rattle about it again for the like 20th time in 2 years like a coward, seems someone forgot how crazy we are, hit the Chernobyl sarcophagus imo.
