Same issue here... I set up a forum account and a LoginServer account. I attempted to add SMS verification, but never got a text message. The game client says my password is invalid, and when I attempt to change my password I get the same message ("Invalid Current Password"). I am unable to do a password reset, of course.
You may wish to check into A2P 10DLC registration for your SMS sender... that may be causing your messages to fail delivery. That requirement is a fairly recent one.
