unfortunately there aren't enough nuclear weapons to actually hit the reset button.

yes, the libbies are constantly crying about the 11k or so nukes that the powers admit to owning, but what nobody really knows is how nuclear war theory goes.

it's not even close to enough to hit just the major population centers, of which there are tens of thousands on their own. you gotta hit every military base, every missile silo, every forward deployed battery, every surface ship. and you'll still never get the submarines

if any of these things are more then like 5km apart, they each require their own nuke, and more then half of everyone's nuclear stockpile are ground penetrators to hit the silos and command bunkers and those are usually based on 50 year old location data.

so in a nuclear war the vast majority of nuclear explosions will occur underground or at sea.

our "modern" weapons are a hell of a lot more "clean burning" than the ww2 nukes also, if your bomb produces a shitload of radiation that means it wasted most of it's energy as energetic particles and not shockwaves so we can't expect billions to die from radiation poisoning.

the dirty nasty reality of all that is most of the victims of a nuclear exchange are gonna die of dehydration, starvation, predation from other humans, sickness and other fates much slower than getting blown up or irradiated.

the irony, as the anti-war bitches would always have it, is that nuclear de-arming guarantees that civilians suffer a hell of alot more after a nuclear exchange.
