It's possible because people botted it and openly admitted to it (thinly veiled) on the forums after the fact. Anyone with even amateur level programming skill can bypass the primitive AFK checks undetected. Even someone with no skills might be able to whip something together with a few youtube videos and some chatgpt assistance. Then it's just a matter of audio triggers to let you know when shit happens and cranking your speakers up and go to sleep. With a little more advanced programming skill you can automate the entire thing (looting and all) and such a script was pretty much openly admitted to being used by at least 1 person who also claimed to have gotten multiple manastones with it. Others shared account info and played in shifts but that's kinda doing it the hard way.

You have practically 0 chance of getting it legit without playing for unreasonably long sessions. I think all sane people can agree you should never have to play a game 24+ hours straight to acquire an item.
